Brouwershaven

Brouwershaven is the second city with city rights on the island next to Zierikzee. Brouwershaven received its city rights in 1403. Brouwershaven has a marina and a monumental center. In the center, you can find a statue of the most famous person from Schouwen-Duiveland: Jacob Cats. This poet and jurist lived from 1577 to 1660 and was born in Brouwershaven. In addition to the monumental center, the city also has a large church. This church is regularly used for performances and features an impressive organ. Currently, around 1,500 people live there, giving the village a city-like allure.
