Certifications

Green Destinations

Since 2018, Schouwen-Duiveland has been certified by Green Destinations, an international programme that assesses destinations on their sustainability performance. The certification looks at a wide range of topics, including nature conservation, the local economy and quality of life.

Schouwen-Duiveland is one of only two destinations in the Netherlands to hold this certification at the highest level. The island has also been recognised several times in the international Green Destinations Top 100 Stories, including for the Harbour-to-Harbour cycling route.

What can you do to help?

During your visit to Schouwen-Duiveland, it’s easy to contribute to a more sustainable island. Often, it’s the small choices that make the biggest difference.
