Geboortehuis Jacob Cats

Discover the birthplace of Jacob Cats, a historically important person known as a poet, lawyer, and politician. The Catshuis in The Hague, named after Cats, was his later residence and is comparable to the current office of the Prime Minister. But it all began here in Brouwershaven, where he was born on November 10th, 1577. Visit this unique location at the corner of Kerkstraat and Noorddijkstraat and learn more about his life and legacy. Cats' most famous work was the book 'Huwelijk' (Marriage), in which he shared handy tips for a good marriage. Later, he became a successful politician and lawyer and died in 1660 in The Hague, where he left his daughters 2.3 million guilders.
