Molen Nieuwerkerk

The Molen Nieuwerkerk, also known as the Nieuwerkerkse Molen, is a characteristic mill built in 1844 to replace an earlier wooden octagonal mill that burned down after being struck by lightning. The mill, located in Nieuwerkerk, fortunately survived the 1953 North Sea flood, but suffered prolonged damage from the salty water that surrounded it.

To solve these problems, the lower meters of the mill's body were rejointed in September 2004. In 2008, the stocks of the mill were restored, which restored its proper functioning.

Today, the Nieuwerkerkse Molen is a popular tourist attraction and it is possible to visit the mill when it is running and by appointment. If you are interested in the history of the mill, a visit is definitely worth it.
