Bruinisse

Bruinisse, a mussel village as it should be. Popularly abbreviated as 'Bru'. The village seamlessly merges with the harbor or vice versa. Many amenities and restaurants can be found in the village, with the annual mussel festival, the Fishery Days, being the cherry on top. Traditionally accompanied by Miss Fishery, every year the question arises who it will be this year. Outside the village, there is a golf course surrounding the Grevelingenhout. In the marina, it's easy to set sail on the Grevelingenmeer. Around 3,775 people call Bruinisse their home, and the residents have often declared themselves an independent state within the municipality, called 'Republic of Bru,' although they are still part of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland.
