Welcome in Noordwelle
Noordwelle derives its name from its location north of a dam, historically known as a "welle," which was used to dam a former creek. The now-vanished Zuidwelle was located south of this dam. Despite its small population, Noordwelle is a close-knit community with numerous activities and a few annual events that bring people together each year.
Ringdorp Noordwelle
Het ringdorp Noordwelle is arranged in a circle around the Corneliuskerk. This church, dating from 1450, was completely destroyed during an attack by the State troops on the Spanish occupation. It was rebuilt in the seventeenth century and now serves as the center of the village. At the edge of the circular layout, you'll find a travalje, a replica of what it looked like in the past. This was used for shoeing horses.
