Welcome in Oosterland
You are now in Oosterland. The village has a stately entrance. The windmill immediately catches the eye, and if you follow the road to the end, you will find yourself in front of the Sint Judocus Church. Although Oosterland has suffered greatly from various floods, such as during World War II and the North Sea Flood, several monuments have been preserved and are worth discovering.
Kerk en rijksmonument
The church is different from those in other villages. As you will see, the tower of the Sint Judocus Church, built around 1400, has a saddle roof, which was very unusual for that time. Due to a fire in 1612, part of the church burned down, and the tower now stands apart from the rest of the church. Although many buildings have been lost, Oosterland still has 16 national monuments, including the church and its tower, the guesthouse, and the windmill.
