Krekengebied Ouwerkerk

For a long time after the North Sea Flood, water flowed into the land, and it wasn’t until November that the breach in the dike was closed. This led to the formation of a large creek area near Ouwerkerk. Because of the saltwater intrusion, the soil became unsuitable for agriculture. New trees were planted around the creek, creating a new natural area.
