Haamstedenature Fotowandeling Tijdens de bronsttijd

Autumn is perhaps one of the most beautiful times of year to experience the forest. The days grow shorter, the colours gradually change from green to warm shades of red, yellow and brown, and the first signs of autumn can be seen throughout the woods.

October also brings a remarkable natural spectacle: the fallow deer rut. Once again this year, I will be organising friendly, small-group photo walks through Westerschouwen Forest in October. October also brings a remarkable natural spectacle: the fallow deer rut. Once again this year, I will be organising friendly, small-group photo walks through Westerschouwen Forest in October. During these walks, we will venture into the woods together to discover the most beautiful autumn scenes and learn more about this special period, when the fallow deer prepare for the mating season.

We will also look out for the various signs of the rut. Perhaps we will hear the call of a fallow buck in the distance, discover tracks or notice signs of the animals’ behaviour. With a little luck, we may even see the fallow deer themselves.

Respect for the animals and their habitat always comes first. We keep a safe distance and allow nature to take its course as much as possible.

You do not need to be an experienced photographer. Everyone is welcome! Whether you take photographs with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, compact camera or simply your phone, these walks are primarily about observing, discovering and experiencing nature. You are also very welcome if you prefer to bring binoculars and simply enjoy the natural surroundings.

Along the way, I will share more about the forest, the signs of autumn and the fallow deer. We will regularly pause to take in our surroundings. Sometimes, it is precisely during such a quiet moment that the most memorable sighting—or the most beautiful photograph—appears.
