De Verklikkerduinen

The Verklikkerduin is a unique nature reserve in the Netherlands with beautiful parabolic dunes and secondary dune valleys full of flowers and rare plants. These young dunes were formed during the Middle Ages by the force of the wind, which sucked up the sand from existing dunes and blew it inland. The result? A spectacular landscape that is still evolving.

In the Verklikkerduinen, you will find three wet dune valleys: the outer verklikker, inner verklikker, and konijnencircus. These valleys are home to various animals, including rabbits, salamanders, and dragonflies. The Verklikkerduinen owe their name to a beacon that used to serve as a reference point between the lighthouses of Goeree and Schouwen.

You can admire the Verklikkerduinen from various beach entrances and roads. The Duinhoevepad and Verklikkerpad offer the best routes to explore these beautiful dunes. Please note that it is not allowed to walk through the dunes themselves, due to the peace and quiet of the animals.

Come and experience the beauty of the Verklikkerduinen, a unique piece of nature that you will not find anywhere else in the Netherlands.
