9. Haamstede Airfield

Opened in 1931 as a civilian airfield with connections to Rotterdam and Knokke, Haamstede Airfield was converted into a military airfield in 1939. During the May days of 1940, nearly all Dutch aircraft present were destroyed by German attacks. The airfield was later restored by the Germans and subsequently rendered unusable to prevent Allied landings.
