Zonnemaire

Zonnemaire is a small village with around 755 inhabitants. The name comes from “Sonnemare,” referring to the water between the islands of Bommenede and Schouwen. “Sonne” means south and “Mare” means water. One of Zonnemaire’s most well-known historical residents is Pieter Zeeman, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1902.

Close to Zonnemaire lies Bommenede, once a working harbor, now a peaceful spot by the water. Ideal for a relaxing day or water sports. There’s a mooring for small boats and a convenient slipway, perfect for boating and fishing enthusiasts.
