Renesse is home to the Vroongronden and the Gadra Forest. In the Vroongronden, free-roaming cattle and Scottish Highland cows may cross your path at any moment. Visit early in the morning or towards the end of the day, and you’ll often spot fallow deer grazing as well. It’s a wonderful area for cycling, as cars are not permitted here. The Gadra Forest is located between Renesse and Burgh-Haamstede. Walking here is never boring, with wild grazing horses, red-and-white mushrooms scattered throughout the forest, and fallow deer hiding among the trees and shrubs. On warm summer days, the forest offers a welcome escape from the heat. In August, it is also one of the few places where you can admire blooming heather.
