Zierikzee, a treasure of a city!

You are now in the largest city of Schouwen-Duiveland. Zierikzee is filled with beautiful monumental buildings, numbering more than 500. History is literally embedded in its streets. Here, you can wander for hours through streets paved with old cobblestones, historical drawbridges, and restored old boats. All around are atmospheric houses adorned with richly decorated stepped gables. In the shopping streets, alongside well-known chains, you'll find small boutiques selling Zeelandic products such as soap made with salt from the Oosterschelde. After exploring, relax on a terrace with a view of the numerous ships entering and leaving the harbor.

This walk along the southern coast of Schouwen-Duiveland reveals an area that was once excavated to strengthen dikes. Now, it has been transformed into nature reserves as part of "Plan Tureluur." Along the harbor canal, you can spot harbor porpoises before heading back to Zierikzee via the path along the dike and Boerenweg.
